An act to amend the penal law, in relation to endangering the welfare of a person with physical or mental disabilities.
Synopsis:
The purpose of this legislation is to criminalize endangering the welfare of a person with physical or mental disabilities in residential care.
Status:
This bill passed the Assembly on 6/22/07 and was delivered to the Senate. The bill died in the Senate on 1/9/08 and was returned to the Assembly.
Summary of Provisions:
- Would amend sections of the penal law to include persons with physical or mental disabilities in residential care within that class of persons whose caregivers would be guilty of a class D or E felony if they endanger the welfare of those persons.
