AN ACT to amend the education law, in  relation  to  application  for  a waiver  from  licensing  requirements  for  entities providing certain professional services

Overview

The proposed legislation seeks to extend the deadline by which not-for-profit and education corporations providing certain professional service (including licensed master social work, licensed clinical social work, licensed mental health counseling, licensed marriage and family therapy, licensed creative arts therapy, licensed psychoanalysis and licensed psychology) must apply for a waiver issued by the New York State Education Department in order to be exempt from corporate practice prohibitions. The extension would push the deadline from June 16, 2011 back to February 1, 2012.
