As the Director of Policy for the National Association of Social Workers, Karin Moran works with the New York State Legislature on behalf of the 11,000+ NASW-NYS members.  Karin actually began her career as an advocate / lobbyist with NASW seven years ago as the Chapter’s Political Field Organizer.  A role that included working on Hillary Clinton’s first Senatorial campaign in addition to several other congressional and state races.  Karin then went on to serve as the Chapters primary lobbyist as the Government Relations Specialist for three years until she moved on to become the Associate Director of an Albany based lobbying firm.  Several years later she briefly served as the Deputy Director of the New York Public Welfare Association but was soon recruited by NASW-NYS to be their first Director of Policy.

Throughout her career, Karin has focused on human service issues such as access to health and mental health services, social services and a number of civil liberty issues.

As Policy Research Associate, Jeremy is charged with monitoring and researching legislation in New York State, as well as providing technical support to members with professional social work issues such as licensure, scope of practice, and clinical supervision. Jeremy began his research career with Social Science Associates, a consulting agency in Utica, NY that serves as director of the HUD Continuum of Care for Oneida County, performs community-based research projects, and program evaluations. His specialty at SSA was in prisoner reentry and other criminal justice issues. Along with his work at SSA, Jeremy also served as a research assistant at the SUNY Albany School of Social Welfare, aiding in the development of research grant proposals and journal publications for Professor Carolyn Smith. Jeremy holds dual Masters degrees in Social Work and Criminal Justice from the University at Albany.
