As the Director of Policy for the National Association of Social Workers, Karin Moran, MSW works with the New York State Legislature on behalf of the 11,000+ NASW-NYS members.  In addition, she represents our city chapter’s legislative interests as well.  Karin’s work for the Chapter has spanned many facets of the political and legislative arena and began with her work as the Chapter’s Political Field Organizer, a role that included working on Hillary Clinton’s first senatorial campaign and has since included work on numerous other state and federal races.  Her work has also included political fundraising endeavors for both state and federal candidates as well as the coordination of campaign efforts throughout the state.

In her role as the primary lobbyist for both the NYS and NYC Chapters of NASW, Karin’s primary objective is to provide comprehensive legislative representation for the profession of licensed social workers; a task that encompasses issues related to the professions scope of practice, reimbursement structures, and social justice issues of concern to the profession, such as access to health and mental health services, social services, civil liberties and more recently, veteran’s specific issues.
