In Times of Crisis –
Are You Prepared to Help?

WHAT IS THE NYU PSYCHOSOCIAL RESERVE CORPS (PRC)?

The PRC is a cadre of volunteers who will provide support services to the public, patients, families and survivors who come to the NYU Medical Center during an emergency or disaster.

WHY SHOULD YOU BECOME A MEMBER OF THE PRC?

The experiences of 9/11 followed by series of electrical blackouts have taught us that we are vulnerable to disaster or terrorist attack. Being a member of PRC will allow you to use your skills and talents to help other New Yorkers in a time of great need.

HOW TO BECOME A RESERVE CORPS MEMBER?

NYU Medical Center is providing training for individuals who are committed to serving the public during a crisis.   Periodic retraining, participation in drills and a time commitment of at least 6 months are required.

WHAT’S INVOLVED IN THE TRAINING?

The training course, located at NYU Medical Center, will be taught by professionals in Social Work and Psychology who are also members of the NYU Crisis Support Team.
