RosieSave the Date - Rosie in the Courtroom
October 21, 2011

Presented by: David Crenshaw, PhD, ABPP

8:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Beekman Arms, Rhinebeck, NY

In June, 2011 a young girl testified in open criminal court against her accused rapist with the help of Rosie, an eleven year old golden retriever.  This was the first time in New York State a service dog was allowed in the courtroom to help a witness testify.

Dr. Crenshaw was instrumental in advocating for Rosie to be allowed in the courtroom.  He will share with NASW members the process he went through which allowed Rosie to help this young girl testify and the benefits of pet therapy.

Dr. Crenshaw is currently working with professionals in the legal, psychological and animal assisted fields to educate and advocate for the use of courthouse dogs nationwide.
