Committee Descriptions

*The summary of committee responsibilities is drawn in part from the By-laws and in part from charges given to the specific committee when the Chapter Board established it.

Award Committee to encourage members to submit nominations.  Review nominations received.  Recommend awardees to Board at their September meeting

Chapter Ethics Committee is responsible for hearing and recommending action on complaints filed in accordance with the Association's policy on adjudication of grievances.

Executive Committee of the Board of Directors is responsible for the affairs of the Chapter between meetings of the Board.  During intervals between meetings of the Board, the Executive Committee can exercise the powers of the Board of Directors within the general policies, programs, budget, and specific direction of the Board.

Finance Committee To develop annual budget for Chapter.  To review, monitor and evaluate all local and state of the Chapter fiscal matters.  To present (through the Treasurer) budget recommendations for Board approval. To advise the Board and Executive Committee on all fiscal matters. Review division budget proposals and make recommendations to board regarding division finances and budgets.

Program Committee is responsible for the development of state-wide program planning and for the review, monitoring, and evaluation of all programs (both local and state) of the Chapter.  The Committee has been charged in 2004-2005 with identifying and making recommendations to the Board regarding local and statewide programming goals and objectives; including recommendations regarding conference and involvement of students and general membership.

Advocacy and Government Relations Committee Seek input through each division (July-October,) regarding advocacy agenda.  Propose advocacy agenda to Board (November.)  Develop, propose, implement/support action plan on advocacy issues at both the Chapter level and in local divisions.

The Committee on Nominations and Leadership Identification is responsible for selecting candidates for chapter elections; implementing the Chapter Affirmative Action program; developing a pool of qualified members for appointment to committees and task forces; and receiving petitions for inclusion on the Chapter ballot.  (See By-Laws for detailed description.)

Political Action for Candidate Election (PAC) is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the President and is responsible for developing the process for candidate election endorsements, making candidate endorsements within guidelines, raising and disbursing funds for political campaigns.  (See PAC By-laws.)

Chapter By-Laws Review Committee is responsible for conducting a review of current Chapter By-Laws, to seek input from Chapter staff and volunteer leadership regarding particular issues to review and changes to be considered, to review Chapter Standards for national guidelines, to develop recommended changes to By-Laws, to present their recommendations to Board of Directors and advise the Board regarding rules governing amendment to By-Laws
