We keep a record of all your continuing education activities
for you. Upon completion
of earning 90 credits within a 3 year period you will receive a
Certificate of Continuing
Education in Social Work.

How do I join the Continuing Education Recognition Program?
A.
Complete the Application for Registration
in the NASW New York State
Chapter Continuing Education Recognition Program for Social
Workers, print it out and mail or fax it to us.

What is the cost to join?
A.
For NASW- NYS Chapter
members the program is free of charge.
Non- members pay a $45.00 registration fee.
Q.
How will
I know if the continuing education program that I attended will
be approved for credit?
A.
Once you submit
verification of attendance and the program brochure our continuing
education committee will send you a status report as to whether
the program was approved as a social work related activity.

What are
the qualifying education events?
A.
The qualifying educational events come under 3 categories that best
reflect social work professional growth activities.
- Category
I consists of organized learning events like workshops, practice
oriented seminars, and post graduate training courses that have
been pre-approved by NASW NYS to provide continuing education
credits.
- Category
II also consists of organized
professional learning events like workshops, practice oriented
seminars and post graduate training programs, but the provider
did not obtain prior approval from NASW-NYS to provide continuing
education credits.
- Category III consists of individual
professional self development activities such as writing a book
or paper for presentation or publication.

What do I do after I attend a workshop or training session and want
to get credit for it?
A.
Mail a copy of verification of attendance and program brochure within
